Toft's birthing season is upon us

14 April 2009

We are pleased to announce our first Toft birth of 2009- a massive surprise at a month early! This Friday Sorrell prematurely gave birth to a gorgeous little light fawn girl. It was touch and go within the first few hours, with us having to get hairdryers, blow heaters and hot water bottles on the job. It was a cold wet day and we had to get her temperature up and then do a plasma transfer to ensure her antibodies were at high levels.

We are now closely watching Tumeric (due today), and then Lady Gladariel (next week). With over sixty births due within the next five months, there will always be at least a couple of cria running around in the maternity paddock here at Toft if you fancy a trip over to meet the next generation of the herd.
